Have Any of You Guys Looked at ALIM/PSDV?

This name seems to be a replay of the SVNT story: a great unmet need story with a low valuation. I'd love to see if you take a look at one of their recent conference call presentations what you have to say about it

  1. aa,

I've not done any real work looking into either. I read your earlier post. And I've been taking a peek intra-day mainly at ALIM. It apparently had a heck of a run from mid to high $6's earlier this summer to almost $11.50. Last 2 days it's pulled back, hanging around $10.20 now. If I were to buy I'd like to get it in single digits. Maybe if we have a pullback in the overall market that might materialize. Or do they have a PDUFA date or other big event coming soon?

  2. Their PDUFA date appears to be December 30th.

Within a week or so we should know if there will be an Advisory Committee meeting, but there is no sign presently that one will take place.

Single digits would be nice. The IPO was in April 2010 at a price of $11 via Credit Suisse and Citi.

The issue for me is that it basically is another "coin toss" trade similar to SVNT. Not sure if I am up to another one of those, but the upside seems considerably better than that of SVNT, in my view. See the other ALIM-related posts here and the Yahoo! board where I have posted a bit.

PSDV, on the other hand, while one step removed from ALIM as a royalty participant, has options, albeit totally illiquid ones.

  3. Was asleep at the wheel early today. ALIM was down to $9.53 at low. Up to $10.47 now. Was looking for single digits but I missed buying any.

  4. I was asleep at the wheel in CYAN.

I had considerably increased my position early yesterday at $2.11, $2.12, and $2.14 based on news that they hired a new CEO (been without one since March when the prior one was canned without explanation) who appears to have an excellent background.

This morning, while I was picking my nose, it shot up to $3.00 and was trading around 2.70 by the time I noticed. I was able to get off a tiny piece at $2.68 before it dropped a bit lower. Still up almost 20% on the say, though.

Just goes to show, sometimes it pays to have orders in on the books for "pieces" at ridiculous prices because they sometimes do get hit!

  5. I actually do that sometimes. Throw out 100 shares at some pre-determined price. If/when it gets hit then it basically serves as an alert to me that the stock has made a decent move (as the GTC sell (or buy) is usually well away from the market.

  6. PSDV and ALIM both starting to look better (weak) for possible entry. Would like to get into PSDV sub $5 and ALIM below $10.

  7. I am 100% of the open interest in the Nov 5 puts in PSDV. I am hoping to do some more work on these names...look up a few brokers reports, look for the slides and transcripts from when the P3 data was released and when the NDA was filed.

There is way too much of the "coin toss" aspect here for me to be comfortable given that my "knowledge base" as compared to SVNT is woefully deficient.
